Learning and Development
Within the council, we have dedicated some time to providing medication training updates to our internal staff working in extra care. It is incredibly important to us to support the teams with staying up to date with changes and encouraging staff to develop.
We also put together a program for digital skills training for them, to help all our staff develop their understanding of new systems in place.
Careers
We attend career events all over South Tyneside and in November we spread ourselves between Boldon School Careers Speed Dating and the South Tyneside SEND next steps transition event. Boldon School was attended Lauren and Dionne to talk about their journey working in Health and Social Care with Year 11s. Victoria attended the SEND event, to raise the profile of working in care when you have additional needs.
Following our involvement with South Tyneside College T Level Health student placements earlier this autumn, we arranged to host the students for a soft skills development day at the end of the month. This consisted of developing their skills in communication, person centred care and safeguarding a persons privacy, dignity and choices.
