Meet Victoria, our Career Development Coordinator

Hi, I’m Victoria, the Career Development Coordinator. I am from the Northumberland countryside but now live in South Shields with my partner. Having run a marathon last year, I am now looking for my next challenge. However I also enjoy cooking, baking and most recently – horse riding lessons!

It is my goal to support people in their learning journey, academically as well as working together through any barriers they may experience, so that they can live their best life and find a workplace they love!”

My Experience

I have worked in education for 8 years, starting with a voluntary position whilst working in food retail. I went to help with the National Citizen Service summer programs, where I realised that helping others take advantage of great opportunities for their future was my passion.

After spending a few years working in secondary schools in pastoral care and as an English teacher, I moved into children’s social care, and later a residential provision for young adults with complex needs. I recently completed a master’s in Psychology, to help me further understand the learning journey and how skills are gained by people throughout their lives, both through traditional education and life experience. I have spent last year working within the Northumbria NHS Trust developing the maternity healthcare workforce to access better progression opportunities and offer specialised support to new parents.

I’m excited for the Care Academy to train and develop colleagues within social care who really value supporting others to live a life they are passionate about.
