We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant (PA) to help a 18-year-old adult with complex health needs. The family would prefer someone who speaks Bangladeshi but anyone who can communicate clearly with him and his family is welcome to apply. For further information click here.

He has several complex disabilities and requires full support in every part of daily life. He experiences frequent seizures, often 10–15 times a day, which means he must be always monitored closely. He has a severe learning disability and very limited sight and hearing, which makes communication and understanding the world around him difficult.

He has significant mobility problems and uses a wheelchair for most movement. He is non‑verbal and communicates through body language, facial expressions, and sounds. He enjoys music, sensory toys, gentle touch, and being around his family.

The Personal Assistant must be able to provide full personal care and daily living support. This includes helping him with washing, dressing, and keeping clean, as well as supporting all toileting needs, as he is doubly incontinent. You will also help him eat a soft blended diet and ensure he is safe during frequent seizures. Support with mobility is essential, including helping him move around the home and using his wheelchair safely.

A key part of the role is helping him access the community and take part in simple, enjoyable activities. This includes going out with him, supporting him during sensory sessions, music‑based activities, or calm outings, and ensuring he has safe, supported time outside the home. The PA must be patient, gentle, and able to communicate clearly with him and his family.

Experience with epilepsy or disability care is helpful, but training can be given. These hours help the family continue caring for him safely.

  • Kind, calm, and patient

Click for more information.

This gentleman is non‑verbal, but he is very much aware of what’s happening around him & appreciates eye to eye contact with friendly facial expressions and being spoken to in a gentle quiet manner. He communicates his feelings through his behaviour & facial expressions—he may switch off, become sleepy, or appear bored when unhappy. Your presence, attention, and respect will make a real difference to his day.

You’ll be working alongside an experienced main PA, ensuring he feels included, valued, and safe always. His wellbeing is the absolute priority, and we’re looking for someone who truly understands that.

We’re hoping to find someone who truly sees him at the centre of everything they do — someone who speaks to him with respect, never over him, and who brings patience, gentleness, and genuine understanding to every interaction. His condition means things can take a little longer, and he may have sudden movements or moments of vulnerability, so a calm, steady presence is essential.
